Sathi is a period and perimenopause tracker. This page explains what it stores, where, and what we can see — which for the things that matter most, is nothing.
The short version
- Your cycle and symptom history is stored on your phone, not on our servers.
- If you turn on backup, your phone encrypts the data before uploading it. We hold ciphertext and do not hold the key.
- You do not need an account to use the app.
- We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
What stays on your device
Everything you log — periods, flow, symptoms, moods, sleep, notes — is written to a database on the phone itself. The app works with no network connection because that is where the data already is. Uninstalling the app removes it.
What reaches our servers
Only if you choose it, and only in a form we cannot read:
- Encrypted backups. When backup is on, your phone encrypts each bundle with a key held on your device before uploading. We store the ciphertext so you can restore it or read it on a second device. We cannot decrypt it.
- Account details. If you create an account, we store your email address so you can sign in and recover access. It is encrypted at rest.
- Device records. A device identifier and app version, so backups reach the right device and so we can tell you which devices are signed in.
- Anonymous usage counts. Which screens are opened and which features are used, without any symptom content, so we can tell which parts of the app are worth improving.
Reports you share
When you generate a report for a clinician, the PDF is encrypted on your phone before it is uploaded, and the key travels in the fragment of the share link — the part after the # — which browsers never send to a server. Anyone with the whole link can open the report. We can only see that a file exists.
What we never do
- Sell or rent your data.
- Share it with advertisers, data brokers or social networks.
- Use your symptoms to target advertising. There is no advertising in Sathi.
Your choices
- Export. Settings → Privacy & Data → Export. Free, always, whether or not you subscribe.
- Delete everything. Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete all data. It removes your account, your logs and your backups. You will be asked to type DELETE, because it cannot be undone.
- Turn backup off. Then nothing leaves the phone at all.
Children
Sathi is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, not only on this page.
